Charles Dickens School (BSF)


DDS undertook the partial demolition and strip-out works within Charles Dickens school. The school remained live at the time of operation, therefore DDS was responsble, and made suitable provisions for the health and safety of the students.

Highfield, Kent

DDS was contracted by Denne Construction to demolish a large residential property. Previous demolition by others of a single storey structure to the side of the building had induced cracking to the main building, therefore a scaffold propping system was put in place.

 

Dover Harbour Board - Jan 09
Demolition of Passenger Services Building Centre


DDS
commenced sensitive demolition works for Dover Harbour Board, within the live harbour environment. The building was initially constructed in 1985 and further extended and modified in both 1991 and 1999. The removal of the building made way for improved infrastructure promoting overall growth of Dover Harbour.

 

 

 

Berkeley First - December 08
Mayday House


DDS was contracted to Berkeley First for works on their Mayday House project, Thornton Heath. The building was stripped back to structural frame and the external cladding removed. The property is directly adjacent to the Mayday Hospital, therefore due care and consideration was taken to ensure the minimum possible disruption occurred, and all entrances to the Accident and Emergency Centre remained clear at all times.

Margate Regeneration Company - September 08
Dreamland Scenic Railway, Margate

DDS commenced demolition and site clearance works for Margate Regeration Company at Dreamland Amusement Park. Built in 1920, the timber framed rollercoaster and associated buildings had been damaged by fire, because of this a had collasped. The structure is the UK's oldest and the world's second oldest rollercoaster. In 2002 the ride was listed and DDS worked alongside English Heritage whom authorised and oversaw the operation, maintaining and stabilizing as much of the undamaged structure as possible.

 

Smurfit Kappa TH - Augst 2008
Turbine and Chimney Smurfit Kappa Snodland

DDS were contracted by Smurfit Kappa Townsend Hook to demolish a redundant boiler, turbine and a 33mm high steel chimney, alongside general site clearance. The works included progressively dismantling both the boiler and turbine using 'hot works' methodology, a high precision process requiring a strict permit to work system. The works undertaken were of a sensitive nature due to the paper mill remaining live during operations.

DDS Carried out the careful demolition and dismantling of the redundant Thor Chemicals Production area at their plant in Margate, Kent.

St Regis, Kemsley Mill, E Line Project

DDS kick off the commencement of St Regis's £104 million project at their Kemsley Mill site in Sittingbourne , Kent , demolishing and stripping out various area's to make way for the insulation of their new process tank farm.

Off Shore Wind Farm Makes A Start

DDS kick's off the commencement of the Thanet off shore wind farm on behalf of Warwick Energy demolishing part of the former Richborough power station.

The works involved the demolition of redundant buildings and the formation of a pilling mat, these works will allow the cables to be brought in from off shore and connected to the live adjacent National Grid plant.

Denne PFI Care Scheme

DDS join forces with Denne Construction to clear the way for better care facilities across 5 sites in Kent .

Denne and their long-term strategic partner Housing 21 secured one of the largest Non HRA PFI projects in the country. The biggest PFI of this kind will see Denne deliver 3 Extra Care schemes, 4 homes for people with Learning Difficulties and a Mental Health unit across 7 sites.

Sun Chemicals, Watford

DDS completed the asbestos removal, demolition and site clearance of the former Sun Chemicals site in Watford, the works consisted of the demolition of a large number of steel, concrete and brick structures along with a 120ft high brick chimney, leaving 11000 m3 of crushed arisings on site for the client to re use as part of the site remediation that followed.

£2.3m Project for Taylor Wimpey

Leybourne Grange

DDS Have been contracted by Taylor Wimpey to undertake the asbestos removal, demolition and site clearance
of the former Leybourne Grange
Hospital near West Malling, Kent.

The whole of the works are to be progressively programmed around the many ecological issues on the site. The overall project involves the construction
of 730 new homes.

Kier Regeneration Project

Bell Road

DDS commence the 4th and final
phase of the asbestos removal and demolition at Parkwood, Maidstone,
Kent. The complete contract consisted
of the removal of 9 blocks of flats and 20 maisonette's making way for Kier in partnership with Maidstone Housing
Trustfor further regeneration of the area.

Paper Mill, Snodland , Kent

DDS successfully complete the demolition of a 17m high redundant steel tank adjacent to the river Medway, the contract was carried out within the tight confines of a working mill and the river wall.
